Reverend Larry D. Lewis

Larry D. Lewis is the retired president and CEO of the Larry Lewis Insurance Agency, LLC, located in west Philadelphia, PA. Larry’s agency primarily wrote personal lines and commercial insurance. Larry was in the insurance industry for 40+ years having worked for several Fortune 500 companies, including Continental and Prudential Insurance companies.

Larry was born in Chicago, IL and grew up in Canton, MS. He attended the Canton public schools graduating from Rogers High School in 1968. Larry pursued a bachelor’s degree in Economics and African American Studies from Tougaloo College in Tougaloo, MS, matriculating in 1972. He did graduate work at Indiana University Purdue University at Indianapolis (IUPUI). And he was granted a Doctor of Humane Letter (DHL) from Breakthrough Bible College and Theological Seminary, in National Harbor, MD.

Larry gave his life to Christ and was baptized at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in 1963, in Canton, Mississippi. Larry was a faithful member of Mt. Zion until he relocated to Indianapolis, IN in 1972, where he joined Jones Tabernacle AME Zion Church. Larry served in several capacities at Jones Tabernacle, including Pastor’s Steward. Larry’s insurance career moved him around the country. He was a member of St. John’s AME church in Aurora, IL, where he served on the Steward’s Board. In 1994 Larry was moved to the east coast by his employer and he joined Mt Pisgah AME church in Princeton, NJ. In 2000 Larry joined Mt Moriah AME church in Mt Holly, NJ and was a faithful member there.

On April 27, 2013 Larry received the “Mission Minded Men “Award presented by The NJC Women’s Missionary Society of the First Episcopal District.

On April 23, 2022, Larry was ordained as a Minister of the AME church in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He was officially assigned to minister to Grace AME Church in Crosswicks, New Jersey, where he has made a major positive impact on the growth of the church.

In July 2013 Larry accepted his calling to the ministry and has been actively pursuing his ordination.

Larry is a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Delta Upsilon Chapter in Trenton NJ where he served as chaplain for 7 years. He has been a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity for 35 years. Larry has been married to his college sweetheart Evelyn (Farrish) Lewis for the past 51 years. They have been blessed with three children and seven grandchildren.
